1/2 Day Entry-Level Workshop

This course is run as a half day workshop supported with interactive discussion, reference materials and online assessment.

SMSF Pathways provides a strong introduction to key SMSF learning areas. It is ideal for those wanting a working level knowledge of SMSFs to complement their on the job experience or for those contemplating becoming an SMSF practitioner.

To gain a better depth of knowledge around SMSF fundamentals, including:

  • The SMSF market and how it is regulated.
  • The structure of a complying SMSF.
  • The sole purpose test in practice.
  • Practical investment standards applying to SMSFs.
  • The mechanics of SMSF contributions and benefit payments.
  • SMSF specific taxation issues.
  • SMSF specific estate planning considerations.

Who should enrol?

  • Financial planners, accountants and para-planners that are primarily investment or administration focused or wanting a greater understanding of the sector and its strategic practicalities. This is a pathways program designed to provide a firm foundation for entry into our 3 day SMSF Specialist course.
  • Those supporting SMSF practitioners such as client service managers, office administrators or BDMs wanting a greater understanding and appreciation of the context for SMSF advice.

CPD/CPE Points awarded

  • FPA CPD points 3.75 with assessment (3.25 without assessment)
  • SMSF Association CPD points 5 with assessment (3.25 without assessment) 
  • TPB CPE points 3.75 with assessment (3.25 without assessment)

  • Duration: 3.5 Hours, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm.
  • Format: Classroom style/workshop.
